This spring, San Jacinto College’s North Campus welding program collaborated with the North Gallery for “Reigning Fire No. 2: Industrial Art Showcase,” featuring creations from metal sculpture and art metals welding courses.

Welding instructor Emily Choate welcomes experienced artists, welders, and newcomers alike: “Even if you don’t call yourself an artist, this class is still for you. A basic concept can transform into artwork.”

This marked the second collaboration between the welding program and gallery.

“We’re honored to showcase these fantastic sculptures,” said gallery curator Joe Clark.

Students also crafted a permanent “Beestro” sculpture for the North Campus culinary arts herb garden, featuring honeycomb cells with café and bakery scenes, flowers, and bees created using various welding techniques.

As students continue exploring welding’s artistic potential, their work redefines the intersection of art and industry.
