Their leadership and willingness to step up and get deeply involved with our students was very encouraging and motivating for the students and\u00a0CPET\u00a0teams involved.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Open Sans';\">The workshop engaged students from the process technology, instrumentation, electrical, and inspection technology programs at\u00a0CPET. The hands-on, fast- moving event had students completing specific safety-oriented tasks in a limited time. Participants were divided into three groups that rotated in a tightly organized schedule through scaffold safety, confined space safety, and process unit safety. Performance Contractors provided a team of seven leaders to guide the students through the course.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Open Sans';\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-75 alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/sanjac.mycareerfocus.org\/spring-2021-volume-1-issue-1\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/20\/2021\/01\/2-300x199.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"199\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sanjac.mycareerfocus.org\/spring-2021-volume-2-issue-1\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/20\/2021\/01\/2-300x199.jpg 300w, https:\/\/sanjac.mycareerfocus.org\/spring-2021-volume-2-issue-1\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/20\/2021\/01\/2-1024x681.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/sanjac.mycareerfocus.org\/spring-2021-volume-2-issue-1\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/20\/2021\/01\/2-768x511.jpg 768w, https:\/\/sanjac.mycareerfocus.org\/spring-2021-volume-2-issue-1\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/20\/2021\/01\/2-1536x1021.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/sanjac.mycareerfocus.org\/spring-2021-volume-2-issue-1\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/20\/2021\/01\/2-2048x1362.jpg 2048w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>\u201cThis was absolutely the best day of the semester,\u201d said Ashley Zhang, CPET student. \u201cThank you to everyone involved for bringing this hands-on safety training in for us. This semester has definitely been a struggle, but this event was great at educating us on some very important skills and bringing us together as a group.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Open Sans';\">On completion of the workshop, the students all received certificates for four hours of safety training to add to their industrial experience and resume.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Open Sans';\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-77 alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/sanjac.mycareerfocus.org\/spring-2021-volume-1-issue-1\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/20\/2021\/01\/4-300x199.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"199\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sanjac.mycareerfocus.org\/spring-2021-volume-2-issue-1\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/20\/2021\/01\/4-300x199.jpg 300w, https:\/\/sanjac.mycareerfocus.org\/spring-2021-volume-2-issue-1\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/20\/2021\/01\/4-1024x681.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/sanjac.mycareerfocus.org\/spring-2021-volume-2-issue-1\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/20\/2021\/01\/4-768x511.jpg 768w, https:\/\/sanjac.mycareerfocus.org\/spring-2021-volume-2-issue-1\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/20\/2021\/01\/4-1536x1021.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/sanjac.mycareerfocus.org\/spring-2021-volume-2-issue-1\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/20\/2021\/01\/4-2048x1362.jpg 2048w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>\u201cThe field leaders from Performance Contractors were patient, engaging, and willing to share their hard-earned experience and knowledge,\u201d said John Suarez, director of CPET resources, and contractors. \u201cStudents overwhelmingly applauded the performance team and asked when they could return for more, having found the experience to be relevant, beneficial, and fun.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Open Sans';\">Founded in November 2020, the PPL is a consortium of leadership in the petrochemical industry from both the owner and\u00a0contractor areas. The PPL offers the Petrochemical Leadership Academy, the Expert Speaker Series, student and community engagement, and industry engagement, workshops, and forums.
