People of almost any age and any walk of life can enrich their lives through Life Long Learning courses offered by the Continuing and Professional Development (CPD) division at San Jacinto College. You don\u2019t have to be a student to take a Life Long Learning course, you just need to be ready to have fun!<\/p>\n

In addition to personal enrichment, Life Long Learning classes can also enrich relationships. \u201cIt\u2019s a great opportunity for social bonding,\u201d commented Ann VandeWeerd, Life Long Learning manager. \u201cFor example, a mother and daughter, or grandmother and granddaughter can enjoy a cake decorating, or a cupcake decorating class together. Or, a father and son can enjoy a racquetball or golf class together.\u201d<\/p>\n

Following is just a sampling of what Life Long Learning courses are offered at San Jacinto College. For a full schedule of Life Long Learning courses offered through San Jacinto College\u2019s CPD division, please visit cpd.sanjac.edu.<\/p>\n

Arts and Crafts<\/strong><\/p>\n

Art Metals (fabrication and design of jewelry and metalsmithing), Bow Making, Ceramics (mechanical and hand-built techniques, glazing, and firing processes), Sculpture<\/p>\n

Cake Decorating<\/strong><\/p>\n

Wilton Cake Decorating Basics, Wilton Flowers and Cake Design, Wilton Gum Paste and Fondant.<\/p>\n

Dance<\/strong><\/p>\n

Ballet, Ballroom Dance Lessons, Belly Dancing, Modern Dance, Wedding or Holiday Dance Crash Course, Zumba<\/p>\n

Painting\/Drawing<\/strong><\/p>\n

Design, Drawing, Painting, Watercolor.<\/p>\n

Sports and Recreation<\/strong><\/p>\n

Tennis (beginning and advanced training), Aerobics, Basketball (introduction of basic skills and techniques), Aikido Martial Arts (non-competitive, non-aggressive skills, beginning and advanced levels), Fitness Walking, Golf (beginning and intermediate), Jogging, Kickboxing for Fitness, Racquetball, Tai Chi, Volleyball, Weight Training.<\/p>\n

Motorcycle Riders Course<\/strong><\/p>\n

For licensed drivers only. Motorcycles and helmets are furnished. Course includes up to 19 hours depending on skill level and number of students.<\/p>\n

Digital Video<\/strong><\/p>\n

Learn to produce and edit video and sound for multimedia or web productions.<\/p>\n

Retirement Planning<\/strong><\/p>\n

Learn to create an integrated successful retirement plan.<\/p>\n

Container Gardening<\/strong><\/p>\n

Learn to grow annuals, perennials,\u00a0shrubs, evergreens and non-evergreens.<\/p>\n

Stagecraft<\/strong><\/p>\n

Introduction to theatre lighting, set design, and construction.<\/p>\n

Theatre Practicum<\/strong><\/p>\n

Includes stage acting, and technical work.<\/p>\n
