San Jacinto College will soon offer the invasive cardiovascular technology program.

Invasive cardiovascular technologists assist physicians with cardiac catheterization procedures. They also prepare patients for cardiac catheterization and interventions as well as monitor blood pressure and heart rate using electrocardiogram (ECG or EKG) equipment during procedures and the implantation of pacemakers. The job market for this particular area is healthy, 30 percent faster than the average rate of job growth, according to the U.S. Department of Labor. Approximate salary is $60,350 per year.

The San Jacinto College program will include an Associate of Applied Science, and an Advanced Technical Certificate for students completing the radiography program. Courses will include cardiac catheterization, cardiovascular anatomy and physiology, cardiovascular instrumentation and more.
